Rockfish Opener on the Pacific Islander

Our first fish report for the 2017 season is here! The rockfish opener is always met with enthusiasm because of the 2 months for the closure of bottom fish. After a couple of months of boat work which included going to dry dock and getting our bi-annual inspection from the Coast Guard, our crew worked very hard to get the Pacific Islander back in the water in short order. Some minor cosmetic work was also completed before the boat was ready for another year of fishing the northern Channel Islands.

The rockfish opener pretty much started off the same way it ended last year, great fishing with numerous return fishermen, along with some new individuals that were introduced to the beauty of the islands and the quality of fish the Channel Islands have to offer.

The fish counts reveal how special this area really is.

Our passengers fished 3 days and all 3 days, they caught their limits of Rockfish, along with plenty of Lingcod, some Sheephead and Whitefish. The weather was pretty nice and seeing the whales is always a special treat. Please check in frequently to view recent fish counts to plan your next trip

Upcoming fishing trips include a sponsored trip by Canyon Reels along with numerous open party trips. We also have Shallow Water Fridays. These trips are a lot fun as we normally stay in water 120 feet or less. Bring your shallow water gear!

Keep an eye on our schedule for sponsored trips and newly added trips. We update on a regular basis as trips open up. Private charters are also available for groups. These are great for company get togethers, family reunions, team building or just a bunch of friends.
